Key Features - 'Tipicos'

We enjoy our walking and believe that all aspects of a route contribute to our overall level of enjoyment. One important aspect for us is where we finish and where we might take rests. Being keen on local cuisine and the relaxed atmosphere of bar/restaurants we try to finish our routes in a local 'tipico'. Not for us the monastic labour of enduring a route so beloved of some writers - who seem to rate their routes on energetic abstinence! We like to relax at the finish of a walk so that we can savour the experience, preferably in a tipico with refreshments and like minded people. Reading our 'press' and 'fan mail' you will see that this decadent approach to refreshment is an aspect of our guides which many people appreciate - it is not unusual for us to divert off a main route to partake of refreshment at a particularly pleasing tipico! Some of our guides can seem like a tour of exceptional bar/restaurant 'tipicos' (all walks are rated for their refreshment opportunities) linked by interesting walks!

If you like our 'total walking experience' approach you will love the 'tipicos'. Regions particularly highly rated for the quality of refreshments include: Tenerife, Mallorca, La Gomera etc etc etc. Actually you will find it hard to pick a guide which isn't highly rated for 'tipicos'.
You can rest-assured that our new Walk! UK series of titles continues our 'tipico' tradition. This is especially so for Walk! the South Pennines by Clarke Rogerson as all the routes are accessed by a cheap-day railcard and seem to finish in a CAMRA-rated pub when the true benefit of rail travel over driving becomes apparent!
